FAQ
Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions about LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips — the refreshingly easy way to whiten.
- Once applied, how long do the strips take to dissolve?
- On average, the strips take approximately 5-10 minutes to dissolve, but may vary by individual. Strips are designed to dissolve evenly, though some individuals may experience slower dissolution in areas between the teeth.
- How do LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips work if they dissolve?
- As the strips dissolve, their whitening power is released and begins to work immediately. If used as directed, the strips are shown to provide a noticeably whiter smile in just 2 weeks.
- When will I begin to see results?
- You may actually notice whitening effects in just a week, but continue using the entire box for optimal whitening results.
- Is it safe to use LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips longer than 2 weeks?
- Yes! It is safe to use another set of strips for an additional 2 weeks if you'd like your teeth to be even whiter.
- What happens to the strips after they dissolve? Are the ingredients safe to swallow?
- After the strips dissolve, the hydrogen peroxide is broken down into oxygen and water, and the remaining ingredients are washed away by normal salivary flow. The ingredients are safe to swallow!
- Are LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips safe for my tooth enamel?
- Yes. The strips contain the same whitening ingredient used by most dentists. And, studies have shown no harmful effects on tooth enamel when used as directed.
- What if I experience gum discomfort or tooth sensitivity?
- Temporary gum discomfort or tooth sensitivity may occur when using whitening products. If significant discomfort or sensitivity develops, try reducing application to once per day and extend the total number of days of your whitening. If the problem persists, discontinue use and consult your dentist.
- Can I use LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips if I have dental work?
- LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips are designed to whiten natural teeth. If you have dental work, consult your dentist to determine if LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips are appropriate for you.
- What if the strips are too wide? Can I cut them?
- You may cut the strips down to better suit the size of your mouth and it will not affect the whitening process. However, be sure not to cut off the edge of the strip with the notch, as that is your guide for proper application of the strips. You should ensure that your hands are clean and dry when you cut the strips.
- Why is it important for me to start with my lower teeth first when applying the strips?
- If you apply the strips to your upper teeth first, you are likely to increase the salivary flow in the lower region of your mouth. This increase in salivary flow will make it more difficult to then apply the lower strip.
- After using LISTERINE® WHITENING® Quick Dissolving Strips, is there anything I can do to help maintain my whiter smile?
- You may use LISTERINE® WHITENING® Pre-Brush Rinse every day to help maintain a brighter, whiter smile.
